Default Jdm Gsr Ecu?

Hey, I just got what I thought would be a P72 ECU off ebay for my '94 GSR. Anyway, the ECU arrived yesterday. No serial number on it, and all that's on it is a homemade label that says "JDM Integra GSR ECU (Obd1)". Should I worry about putting this ECU into my car? I tried it out and vtec engaged at 5000 rpm, not 4400. Think I should contact the seller and try to get my money back, so I can get a legit P72 or what? Thanks in advance for any input.

I would take it to Acura, and see if they can tell you if it is US or JDM.

Open up the ECU. There is a part number which is located on the side of the ECU and inside the ECU on the connector. e.g. 37820-P72-A01

Let me know what it says.

The P72, JDM or not, should engage VTEC at 4400 rpm, and open the secondary butterflies around 5600 rpm. However, this can change if it has an aftermarket ECU chip in it. Open the top ECU cover and take a picture, then post it.

I was wrong about vtec engaging at 5000 rpm. It is actually engaging at 4400 rpm, just as a USDM P72 ecu would. I really haven't noticed anything "special" about this computer, but my car has never had a stock ecu in since I bought it, so I can't say for sure. I did notice that it is keeping my idle pretty high (around 1200 rpm) and I haven't had any dipping idle issues, whereas with my old computer I had to hold the revs for a few minutes just to keep the idle up to 1k rpm when I started it after a couple hours of sitting. Also, this is kind of hard to explain, but vtec feels different now when it engages, like I can feel it in the pedal and my intake sounds a lot louder than before. Anyway, if I get a chance I will post some pics of the ECU. I'm thinking the whole "JDM" labeling is BS or something, just to make it sound special.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't know anything about the secondary butterflies opening up either, since my intake manifold is missing all the components that would allow them to open (i.e. dashpot). The previous owner did some really dumb stuff to this car that I have yet to understand...
