I bought a used '98 Accord V6 with 80K miles on it. 3 weeks later the shifting starts getting erratic and I got a check engine light with "P0740 - TCC circuit malfunction". I took it to a shop and they said I needed to replace the transmission because some of the parts in the transmission were overheated. So the entire transmission was replaced (including sensors, torque converter, etc.) and the check engine light still comes on with the same code. The erratic shifting is not happening any more and it seems to drive perfectly, but the light keeps coming on. My mechanic tried changing the cooling system thinking that might be the cause of the light, but the light came back. My mechanic is now going to check the wiring from the transmission to the computer. Has anyone else ever seen this before where this code kept coming back?
