Default Timing Belt Install - Helpful Advice Requested

I am actually changing the head gasket on my 94 Integra LS. I have installed the head gasket, and now I'm trying to put on a new timing belt, but I can't seem to get the new belt on right. I can get it on, but only with too much slack in between the cams. It seems to be off by one tooth, but I can't seem to get it on any tighter. Are there some special tools for doing this?

I can't even say that I think its the wrong belt, because I tried getting the old one on, and its pretty much the same story - user error.

Is there a trick to this? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any advice.
Mark

Hmm. OK, I took a look at that page. Its pretty much what I am trying to do. Perhaps I need more patience.

Thanks for the link - very much appreciated.

i think you just have to make the tensioner tighter. get like a screw driver and get the tensioner real tight that should be good.

Loosen the tensioner a bit and install the new belt. Then rotate the crank a few times and the tensioner will automatically set the tension for you. Tighten the tensioner bolt to the recommended torque spec, and turn the crank to inspect belt tension. It's possible that you have too many teeth on the belt in between the cam gears, and you'll have to manually turn the gears while putting on the belt in order to get it right.
