Default Spark Plugs on 2000 LS

I went to the dealership to get some copper NGK's, but the dude at the parts counter told me they changed the spark plug specs on the 2000-2001 Integras to Platinum only. I didnt have the money to buy the platinums, nor do I wish to shell out 72 bucks as opposed to the 12 dollars to the copper ones. Can anyone confirm this?

I have NGK platinums that cost me $6.49 each CAD @ Canadian Tire. So you don't have to spend a crazy amount to get platinum plugs.
