Default New member w/ some problems

Hello to all my name is Tan and myself & husband Roy just purchased a 92 Integra last week now the guy that we purchased it from did point out that the racks and pinions (I hope that i'm spelling that right) and the thermostat needed to be changed out. That was cool to us ok so this week came and it was time to go and pick it up so on the way there he calls and tells us he did in fact change the thermostat out but the car is still overheating.

I asked him how long does it take for it to do it he said he can leave it running and its fine.He said he drove it at about 30 mph and after about 3 mins it got overheated.Does anyone have an idea what this could be could it be the water pump needing to be changed out?Is something blocked or could it be the headgaskets.

Also is it very expensive for those racks and pinions to be changed out?He said we should get them changed before the car his 2000 more miles The car currently has 183,000 miles on it.

My husband seems to not be worried but I am.Am I just over reacting?Heres a pic of the car as well.

In theory if the car is running and not moving it should be overheating. If the thermastat was changed and still is overheating then maybe the coolant is clogged somewhere. (maybe upper or lower radiator hose). If problem still not found then u have major issues with your car

It's possible that there are air bubbles in the cooling system. Try having the coolant flushed and see if that helps. As far as the rack replacement, I have no idea how much that would cost, or why he thinks it needs to be replaced.

A rack replacement will cost you out the ass. Don't do it unless you have gotten several opinions from professionals telling you that it must be done.

Thermostat stuck? In backwards? Take out the thermostat and put it back together and see if the water flows through the radiator without a thermostat, it should be going like crazy, if not then I would check the water pump.

That car definately needs a drop bad, welcome to HAN it probably has air in the cooling system ask him did he bleed the system. If that is not done it will cause the car to overheat

Thanks for all the opinions I looked up the rack replacement and it was kinda cheap as far as the labor i'm sure it would take alot.I will tell my husband to get estimates first.Thats what he said though it would need replacing down the line.

We are going to take it to this shop down here where we are stationed at to try and fix the problem.

Gascanb as far as the kit we just bought this car right now I really don't care how you hate our body kit I didn't sign up on this site to get lashed on about something so minor to me right now keep your comments to yourself thank you.

Bone i'll ask him today if he did that to the system.

In my honest opinion I think it is something either clogged or the water pump just needs changing. Thanks to all i'll keep ya posted.

All a matter of taste on body kits, but it looks like it wants a little lower stance. You can also check if the thermostat is opening in pan of water using a candy thermometer to monitor temp.
