Default 97 LS question

I was just curious as to wether a 97 LS has a knock sensor or not. Ill be doing an LS-Vtec in about a week or so and was wondering wether it has one or not and if it doesnt will I have to add one.

it doesnt have a knock sensor. you'll have to add one.

Just wondering, but LSVtec setup are you doing. I mean what all parts are going in it, what are you going to set your redline at, ect.

It doesn't have one. It is possible to add one, but not necessary. Certain ECU's do check for a knock sensor though, and if you don't have one, you'll throw a code.

Im gonna be using an OBD2 P72 so pretty much my redline is gonna be at 8200.
