Default 1990 vtec controller problem

just bought a 1990 teg vith the b16a motor automatic.now this is how it started;i was told before i bought the car that it had a vtec controller stock from factory now i'm new to honda well i always loved hondas but this is my first, anyway when i got the car i looked for this controller but was kinda expectin to c a screen with button, anyway i was driving one day when i noticed a green light with a knob above it and it would come off every time the rpm would fall below 2500 so then i started playing with this knob realising that this might be the controller ,(i reconed that becousr the car would gain and loose power according to where i sset it) any way one night i reallised the light was always on ,for that whole knight i was driving it didnot come off untill the next day when i drove it the light never came back on again up to this day it still doesnt work so any help or advise would be appriciated

They didn't come with VTEC controllers stock anywhere in the world, in fact no Hondas ever did. If you live in the US, there was no VTEC model Integra until the 1992 GS-R, so it obviously wouldn't have such a thing.

It sounds like someone installed an RPM switch in your dash.
