Default adding subs in rear speaker area

has anyone ever attempted to put subs in the rear speaker area. I was thinking about maybe putting two 8" subs back there, to save trunk space and eliminate the box so I wouldnt have to worry about too much dead weight.

I was thinking about making it come out a lil and cover it nicely with plexy glass.

let me know what u think and if you have a similar setup.

I would make it come out a lil, and have plexy glass structure to hold it, and use dynomat inside the panels to make the subs sounds better.

think it's worth it?

i was thinking the same thing on my hatch.
right now i have a 3 10" setup that slams off a digital amp, but way too much weight, like my whole dam trunk! plenty of air space, u just need to build the pods out of fiberglass to fit all the curves back there. would probably sound really good w/ a 6.5" upgrade in the front

yea, juiceweazel, I have 2 10" in my hatch. It's too heavy, and a ***** when I go to the autoX, I need something else, and i think it's possible, ppl say it wont fit.

should sound good with a nice component upgrage in the front

ive never taken apart the panel to see how much room is actually back there....but if your wallet is fat enough...itll fit.

if you are planning to get 2 8s...why dont you just get a single 10 or 12 for the trunk. there are subs out there that dont require a lot of air space. and you can always take it out at the track.

well another reason i dont want anything in my trunk is cause it's nice to use the folding back seats in need of some space, plus i hate the way it makes my car look with my H&R springs, which should be like 1.5" drop but more cause of the heavy ass box.

you can make a fiberglass enclosure that molds on the side of the trunk.

I plan on just going w/ a Bazooka tube or similar, whenever I get the $ to start stereo upgrades... lightweight, easily removable. I don't need anything that bangs, I just want some more bass response.
