Default Intake Question

Does anyone know where i can buy a cai for my 1998 teg with a bypass valve already installed?? I live in Fl, and with all the hurricanes I dont want to risk gettin hydrolock or whatever its called. Also i really dont trust myself with having to cut the pipe in order to install the valve.

Whassup? Welcome to HAN.
IMO the typical CAI is overrated. An Icebox would be a worry free way to go, and you'll see comparable gains if not better, when compared to a regular CAI.

They do. But if you want a CAI with a bypass valve already installed, I would suggest searching for a used one off ebay.

Seriously though, if you've got your heart set on a CAI w/ a bypass valve, then any shop that carries the AEM line of intakes can set you up. The bypass valve is sold separately, and you'd install it between the lower and upper pipe sections when you install the AEM CAI. It's not a challenging installation.

As others have said before, a non-sealed cold air duct to the OEM airbox (or a short ram intake) is the safest way to go.

And welcome to HAN.

h: Just checked..you're right, I'm wrong.

It's the V2 system that's 2 piece..

At any rate, cutting the intake takes about 30 seconds with a hacksaw. IMHO, that's not exactly something to worry about screwing up. Just be sure to clean out any remaining metal filings on the cut ends.
