Default Pistons

Bros...

i need urgent help here....a mechanic is selling me an 2nd hand high compression piston for 200...further checking noted that the purported high compression piston is actually the JDM Honda Accord pistons....dunno why it is called high compression pistons....

anyway i have a B20B JDM B1BC set up....it has mild P&P, JDM Civic type-R cams, SSR cam pulleys, 4-1 extractor, lighten flywheel, but with the standard CRV pistons...do you reckon that this purchase be a worthwile or do you recommend anything else....BTW, my ECU is standard but the chip has been changed and i have the latest V-AFC II Apexi....

cheers...

BTW, the piston size is 84.5mm....he claims after the installation my compression ratio would be the same as type-R...

i was also looking at the CF4 JDM Accord pistons (85mm) but he suggested otherwise at the grove might result in substantial damages to the b20b block....

85mm you'll have to bore it out. But with the B20b you're already pushing it because the walls are thinner than your typical 1.8 setup.

Is he selling you all four for 200, or just one?

aLL 4 BRO....someone out there advice me on putting more compression ratio as it might not favor the walls of the b20b block in the long run....any technical advice out there??

Even at 84.5mm you'd need to bore the cylinders because the stock b20 bore is 84mm. If you are going to tear your block down, wait until you can get a nice set of forged rods and pistons. Forged rods will be much better at handling the high rpm of b20vtec than the OEM b20 rods. As for the higher compression and b20 cylinder wall stuff, I have seen what people have posted about the sleeves cracking with high compression pistons. However, this is a tuning problem. If you're going to go high compression, get a tunable EMS like the AEM or hondata...that's the way to do it safely and not detonate and cause damage.

Appreciate the advice...will forgo the OEM pistons...will go for forged 84mm pistons instead...simple set up with no boring needed....
