Default 96' GSR with 96' Spec R swap.......help

I was looking into getting the AEM EMS this week and I was fooling around with my ECU and I noticed that whenever i swapped my JDM 96' Spec R motor into my 96' GSR a year or so ago...That the type R ECU P73 has 4 slots for plugs and the GS-R only has 3 plugs and I have an open port in my ECU. Now...the car has run fine no problems. I have headers and intake and straight pipe through exhaust...no cat, and I dyno-ed @181 whp. Is this normal? Could something not be going right because of that missing plug in the port? Or should I look into getting a conversion harness?? All help on this subject would be greatful. Thanks.

Jon

sounds just fine to me. what dyno was it on? dynojet or mustang dyno?

for reference, my 96 GSR dynoed 148whp and 109torque with I/H/E on a mustang dyno and thats like ~170whp on a dynojet

It was on a Mobile chasis dyno, dynojet. How did you dyno@ 170whp on a dynojet?? I wouldnt think that I/H/E would give you a 25hp increase? I know GS-R dyno @ 170 bhp but Thats cool that you pumped that much.

Sounds perfectly fine to me. I did notice this missing harness when I installed my "blue box". It is perfectly normal though and so are your dyno numbers.

So having that missing port in my ECU is not causing anything? So If I get the AEM EMS and I plug it in like it is now with that missing port it will be fine? thanks

I read the power pages once in Import Tuner and they bumped a stock GSR to 168 w/an I/H/E set-up. Surprisingly the GSR only loses about 12hp to the wheels under a load.

GSR's have 170 stock. so they would only be losing 2hp

my brother was making ~162 whp on a dynojet a few years back with his gsr with an aem cai, dc jdm header, 2.5" cat-exhaust. so its not totally unbelievable.
