Default Turbo Help!!

I have a 98 GS-R. Im still considering about turbo charging it. I want to do the Greddy turbo kit w/ Greddy intercooler. If i do this kit do i have to do any internels, or can the stock motor support this turbo kit. I plan on changing my clutch and flywheel when i blow it up as well. I hear you should do internels but greddy claims this kit works with the stock motor. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

If you keep it at the stock PSI, and your block is in acceptale condition, the ~8 lbs of boost should be very safe with tuning

I have the greddy kit and I haven't touched any of the internals. It should be fine unless you plan on bumping up the boost.

i as well have a greddy turbo kit... and i have da greddy fmic also and no need for touching the internals... you should run fine if you keep it at the stock preset 7.5 lbs ... but how much miles do you have on your motor...if you have hella miles than maybe you should rebuild a bit... but hey i dont know much... haha im sure pppl here should help you out... they helped me out while i was building my greddy turbo

Agreed. I put my turbo on with 128,000 mi on my engine. Now I have this huge oil burning problem under full boost. Make sure you have your engine checked before you put the turbo on. Also, make sure you have enough money left over to ditch the "blue box" and go for something tunable because the blue box runs way too rich.

Your stock engine will be fine as long you don't boost past what the GReddy FCU likes to run in, which is around 8 psi.
