They make a special socket that allows the wire to stick out the side of the socket. I just disconnect the exhaust at the header and let it drop, then you can fit the socket in pretty easy.
This might sound silly but make sure you are turning the correct way. The O2 is upside down compared to you as you are lying on the floor. If thats not the problem try some WD-40 or equivalent thats if you don't want to buy the O2 socket.
when i installed my high flow cat i had to take out the o2 sensors from my stock cat. the o2 was in there tight, i just unplugged the wires for the o2 sensors (the wire for the secondary o2 sensor i just cut and left out..dont need..no emissions where i live..but u can cut the wires then solder them back together afterwards). then i grabbed my army surplus oxy-acetalene (sp?) torch and warmed up the cat where the o2 went in..yeah wd40 didnt work for me..maybe it will for u tho..it ended up being real easy to take out the o2 sensor when the metal was heated up.
i hit it with the vise grips it took a bit but i was able to get it out make sure ur turning it in the rite direction also try some penetrating lube it ill loosin it a little
