The previous owner probably cut it. Go to www.modacar.com and check out the edelbrock short shifter for 69 bucks or so. I have one in my integra and it fits quite nice and feels pretty good. Get a new shift bushing as well. Good luck!!!

Just get a aftermarket one, Skunk makes a good one or you can just buy a stock one at a junkyard

well i pit it up on a lift and did some looking at it.

when its in gear, everything moves i thought it might be a bushing or something. but the selector rod that goes from the shifter to the trans. when it is in gear it moves like its in neutral and it moves everything even the shat thats part of the trans.

so now my question is what sets the stops for the shifter? is it in the trans or is something missing in my car. i guess i need to get some more info on this stuff any ideas where i can get some down loads on it, like a repair manual. or something like that??

thanks for all your help so far.

A helms manual would be a worthy investment. I found this website on the web, it might be of some use to you.
