Problem w/ back struts...
ok...my friends and i made it a saturday project to put on my ground control coilovers. fronts went on in about 30 min., but the backs are given me a hard time. The bolt that holds the bottom of the strut to everything else is welded at one side and WILL NOT BUDGE!
i dont wanna mess it up and hafta be car less untill i get new shocks in...that'd suck. i need that bolt undone in order to get the strut out and finish w/ the new springs...any ideas?

Are you sure it's just siezed and not welded? That bolt siezing/rusting is a very common problem...try a lot of penetrating oil and let it soak for a while. Some people have to cut/torch it off, and replace the nut/bolt.

I had the same problem. It isn't welded, it is just torqued ridiculously tight. Try a breaker bar on that bastard after using some WD-40 or something. With enough effort, it will come loose.
ok well i took it to a shop nearby and they said that if i broke the bolt off i would ruin the strut...? the only other option is to take everything under the well out in 1 big piece and replace it that way? HELP!
I don't think it will ruin the shock, it's just a bolt. Use a ton of penetrating oil, and a big breaker bar.

even a torque wrench will brake it, It has happend to me about 4 times now. The fifth time I used spring compressors and compressed the spring. It Took a little longer but it worked. You can find spring compressor a any auto parts store there like $30 Good Luck
Can you gt the nut off the bolt? Or is the bolte stuck in the strut? Either way, PB Blaster works the best. Let it soak in, then spray again. If it doesn't work use heat or impact gun.
I broke off both sides of that bolt and couldn't pound the bolt out to get the strut off. PB Blaster works everytime now.

we put the coilovers on the front and well now when i decel or use no brake at all and jus coast, i can hear a repeatative "clunk clunk clunk" depending on the speed (the tempo slows as i slow)....i checked the lugs and tire and such, but cant find the problem...IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE! help!
