Default Cel ?

The other week, my CEL came on...........I pulled the code(s) and I was misfiring. Anyways, I think the problem was my ignition wires, so I got new ones. My CEL is still on, and my question is will the light go off by itself when the problem is fixed? Does it take a while to cycle through to clear it? Can I just reset it myself?

The button under the dash is used to to reset your maintenance light, not the check engine light

I know that the button under the dash is for the Maint. Light, I was just wondering if there was a way to reset the computer without disconnecting the battery (lazy I know, but I don't want to reset the radio.......). If there isn't a way to do it, I guess I will just bite the bullet and disconnect. haha I thought it would reset itself after x amount of miles, or x amount of starting cycles. It has been about 200 miles and a dozen or so restarts.

Well then you would need to find someone with an OBD1 or 11 scantool. Do you have an Autozone near you, I know they use to reset CELs?

Even if you pull the fuses for the ECU you would need to reset the radio with the code.

Thanks, I didn't know that AutoZone reset CEL's. Would I need to reset the radio? I have a system that I have tweaked exactly how I like it (took a long time lol) and don't want to mess it up. I know, I know, just write down all the settings and reset them later (at least I admitted I was being lazy). I will just go to AutoZone and have them reset it for me. Thanks for the input!

When I had my Accord Autozone reset the check engine light for me. You shouldn't need to reset the radio at all. Just give them a call before you head out, I would hate for you to waste a trip.

They should still provide this service, it helps draw in customers. Be aware that if there is a problem with your teg then the cel will reappear.

I'm pretty sure Auotzone can't clear an OBD1 system.
