Default 97 integra LS auto miles/gallon....

hi there,

i m just wondering if my car miles/gallon for 97 integra LS auto is within range. the car has ~ 72300 miles. i use mobil 1 synthetic engine oil 10W30 and 87 octane gas. i live in san diego, california. the car is used as i go to work everyday 5 days a week for ~2.5 miles one way, so one day is ~5 miles and one week is ~ 25 miles, no freeway, use local street with ~ 8 red lights (i know it's lots of lights for 2.5 miles distance). i am surprised to see that my miles/gallon is only ~ 14.67 miles/gallon. today i filled it up and i filled for 4.021 gallon and the odometer is 59 miles.

is this normal for 97 integra LS auto ?

Are you sure you calculated it right? Other than that, it must be your driving pattern or something, and auto trannies get crappier gas mileage than manual.

It really depends on your driving style. But driving those short distances on the street with so many stop and go's will take a toll on the mpg.

I got 214 miles on my last tank. And when I take long drives (all highway), I can get about 300...maybe a bit more.

i calculated it right. i reset my tripmeter each time i fill the gas. it reads 59 gallon with the needle is just a bit right from the middle. i thought i would fill 5 gal, instead it's 4 gal...

so i guess it's normal, ha? hmm, driving habit. i never warm up my car. usually i just wait a minute or two then i just drive regardless of the temp, but drive it easy until the temperature warms up, then i drive normal after that.

does it matter if i warm up my car like that? or should i warm it until the temp needle move then i go?

Well honestly I don't know if you should let it warm up. I know I don't and I never have a problem. I warm up my car by driving a bit harder when I take off. Ehh maybe just me but I never had issues.
