Default check engine light help

Car is throwing check engine light 65: Bad or defective catalytic converter. I replace both o2 sensors with factory ones and bought an aftermarket cat. Threw everything on and check engine light is still there any ideas?

have you cleared the code? just changing the parts will not cause the light to turn off. you need to clear the code also.

How do you clear the code? I unplugged the ecu for about 10-15 seconds before replugging.

don't know if that will do it or not.

there are 2 fuses in the engine bay you need to pull, unfortunately i don't know the names just which ones they are when i look at them. or you can just disconnect the negative battery cable for a minute or so.

Changed out cat and both o2 sensors on my 2000 'R'. The car has kamakazie headers and 3" thermal research exhaust, everything else is stock. Problem is car would throw check engine light code 45, running too rich or too lean. The light would come on sometimes when I start the car and other times it would come on at all. what could be the problem?

THis may be too late...I had the same problem with my ITR and changed the entire exhaust system including the Cat to a 2.5" Magnaflow. That was several months ago and it has not returned.

I actually melted my catalytic converter on the track. I got the same code. I replaced the cat with a random technology cat. that is probably your problem.

don't pull the ecu plugs!!!!!!!!!! if the battery is still connected it can fry it.....just disconnect the negitive terminal on the batter for 2 min or so and it will reset the codes....either way that code doesn't cause any poor performance at all
