idle problem situation
Okay here is the situation. I have an idling problem with my 96 gsr. It is stock except for tune up and thermostat and radiator and has 172000 miles. So far i ahve done the "seafoam" thing(it did not work) new sparks plugs(it did not work) new ground wire from chassis to valve cover(because it was nasty) cleaning the iacv( also did not work.
The idling problem is that the idle idle fine when cold. It drops down to 800. But when warmed up it goes to 1100 and revs up to 1500 and back down to 1100. On some occasions the car's idle is stuck at 1600 and revs constantly. I have to turn the car off then back on for the constant rev to stop but the reving up and down continues.While the idle is reving constantly at 1500 i get a wierd reponse like i am not geting enough gas. Example: When i press the gas pedal the car instantly revs up and feels like a downshift that pulls you hard. Then when i depress the gas pedal i feel an instant drop in power. THen when i try to keep the speed the car would sputter. while I slow down and come to a red light i press the clucth and the rpm goes down to 1000 rpm and then instantly moves back up to 1500. When i come to a complete stop then the car revs up and down.
I was thinking the only thing left is fuel filter, fast thermo idle valve( do they have one for 96?), valve adjustment ( How much would it cost at the mechanics) and 02 sensor. Does anyone have any other idea what it could be so i don't waste more money because i'm in college and college sucks up alot of my money.
