Default Strange noise from front right please help

Hi,
I have an Acura Integra LS hatchback 1992 model, since the last few days there is a strange noise coming from the front passenger side, somewhere near the wheel, the noise is something like an chirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp, to define it exactly something like a bug making noise.....The strange thing is it is independent of speed and is periodic.....Even if I accelerate the car the noise does not speed up its constant. I jacked up the car and turned the wheel to see if it is making the noise but the wheel does not... And the other thing is the noise only comes when the car is moving forward, if I reverse the car the noise is not there...niether is it when I am idling......
I took it to a mechanic nearby and he says he has to replace the clutch but is not sure if its the clutch which is making the noise......
It would be a great help if anyone can suggest something...
Please help

First thing I would check is the brake pads. Could be the squealer pin rubbing against the rotor. The sound is supposed to alert you to the fact that your pads are getting thin.

The next thing to check is the axle/bearings. Put the car up on jacks, put it in neutral and rotate the wheel. Try it in both directions and see if you can find where the noise is coming from. If it is a bearing, it could be that it is only noisy under load so you might have to try to listen for the noise while someone else is driving the car.

If it is one of these things, it will be far cheaper than if it is the clutch so I'd look into it further. You don't want to replace the clutch only to find that the noise is still there.

Are you on coilover's. It could be that the coils are in the incorrectly. I mean you will need to turn the coil so that the bottom end of the coil stops on the outside.

This happened to me also. It has the same symptoms you described.
