best sounding intake?
Hey guys, I'm just about to take a step further and purchase a CAI system (or SRI).
From what I know, most brand name intakes (i.e. AEM, Injen,) are about the same in performance gains, so I think it would be logical to go with the one that "sounds" better.
Now what do I mean by this? Something that is not too loud but not too quiet either.
Also what is easier to install? CAI or SRI? Whats the advantage/disadvantage of both systems? I plan to install it myself.
THanks for helping out this newb.

since u live in CA i'd go with something CARB approved like AEM. However if i were to get an intake i would get the Comptech Icebox which has an advantage of not hydrolocking and in the freak chance that it does Comptech will replace your whole engine given that you installed it at an authorized place.
The Short Ram Intake's are going to *sound* the best; but as far as performance goes you might as well keep the stock airbox instead of an SRI. (In my opinion).
If you want a good mix of a good sound when you stomp on it, being CARB legal, and actual performance increase.. I'd say go with the AEM Cold Air Intake. I don't know too many people who have ever experienced Hydrolock, and none personally, so that shouldn't be a problem. If you are worried about it though, you can get a bypass filter for the AEM CAI that will help prevent that in case you do dive into a 3FT deep puddle of water by accident.
Now, for my personal opinion. I'd go with the Comptech Icebox and keep your stock Airbox for smog-test days.
I should note, I had an SRI.. and I still advocate the AEM CAI or IceBox.

Yeah I really don't want to go through the trouble of my filter sucking up water so I think I'm gonna go with the Comptech Icebox.
Seems a little easier to install as well.
