Default Smog Help Needed.

Hey all,

Ive got a 2k GSR with a leaking #2 Cyclinder. It runs fine, but my check engine light comes on every once in a while. Mostly off in recent weeks, but it does come on sometimes when I start it.

Anyways, its DMV renewal time and I need to smog it. Problem is, I dont think its going to pass SMOG. I havent tried yet, but I spoke to someone whom said, if your CEL comes and goes on/off, chances are you will FAIL. To that end, I'm looking for some advice on what i can do, other than spend the 1400 bucks for a rebuilt head.

Anyone in Orange County, CA have any ideas? Ive got a friend whom works for a SMOG shop, but hes saying I need to borrow someones 2k GSR for him to trick the machine.

Can anyone in here help me? I need either someone whom can get mine to pass or perhaps someone willing to help me out with there 2K GSR? I of course am willing to pay for this assistance.

My car is a lease and im truning it in, but for now I need my tags! Hence the reason Im not rushing off to spend 1400 bucks on a new head.

PLEASE HELP A FELLOW INTEGRA OWNER OUT. IF YOUR WILLING TO MEET UP WITH ME AT A FRIENDS SMOG SHOP, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! IT WONT TAKE LONG AND IM WILLING TO PAY FOR YOUR TIME. OR IF YOU OWN A SMOG SHOP, WHAT CAN I DO TO GET AROUND THIS?

Thank you,
Ram

I just learned something VERY useful about getting smog done. If you transfer a car between family members you don't have to get smog done. I just got my car and said that I bought it from my brother, and I didn't have to get it smogged. It doesn't matter if the names match because they'll never check it. good luck

What do you mean leaking No. 2 cylinder? Do you mean the valves are leaking?
If this has happened then you may want to open up the engine to check everything is ok in there.....

Yes, My vavles for #2 cyclinder are leaking. Well thats at least what I was told. I have a compression check and leak down test down. They said my vavles for #2 are leaking 40%.

However, the car runs fine. CEL comes on and off every once in a while, while either starting up or at idel for long periods of time. More recenlty, its been off. And I really dont notice much power loose. Some, but not much at all. I can rev up fine, it still goes fine, but I am burning some oil. About a quart a month. Sometimes hardly no oil lose.

Anyways. I need help passing SMOG. The engine is due to be fixed sooner or later if I choose to keep it. Its a lease.
