Default Idle overheat

On my 95 integra se automatic, whenever my car is idelsing the temp guage rises almost all the way up, both fans are running (my ac is not on) and there is no antifreeze loss coming from the water pump, but when I start movin the temp guage drops to where it should be.

my question is, is it just time to ram the radiator or is there something more serious I should be worring about

THX

I'd check the thermostat, and I'd also look for any bubbles in the coolant system...

I'm beting the radiator needs flushing, and possibly replacement.

The plastic end tanks on our stock radiators don't inspire confidence in the cooling system... so if you decide to replace the radiator, you might want to look at an aftermarket one with aluminum end tanks, such as C&R.

Also, if you do the replacement yourself, be very careful to bleed all the air out of the cooling system when you refill it. And of course, use the correct coolant type and mix, as indicated in your Helm's manual. (You own one, right? )

either it is your thermostat (cheapest replacement) OR the beginnings of a failing water pump. it won't leak, but it won't pump as well during idle as it should.

I do have the haynes manual

But anyway, I burped the system... ended up adding like 1/3 gallon of antifreeze/water, I left off the cap and let the car run for like 5 minutes, It did'nt overheat but it did while burping spit up a good deal of fluid... I let it cool down a little and I added some more fluid and put on a new radiator cap, it doesent look like its sealing very good though but the wierd thing was the replacement was a 13 lb. cap for a 16 lb. system... looks like its off to the dealer for yet another part
