Default vtec whooas. need help!!

just wondering if anybody knows what mph their vtec kicks in as opposed to rpm. my boy has a jdm type r swap in his 99 hatch and his vtec used to kick in at 25 mph in 1st, 42 mph in 2nd, 60 in 3rd, and 80 in 4th. now its not kicking in till 35 mph in 1st, 57 mph in 2nd, 77 mph in 3rd and dont no 4th. anyone have any ideas what the hell is going on. he doesn't have a tach so rpms mean nothing as we don't know what the rpms are... thanks for helping.

I'm a little confused. Is this an ITR? Why would he remove the tach? There is an RPM signal that helps the ECU decide to engage VTEC...it's a part of a set of circumstances that have to be correct for the ECU to decide the motor is healthy and needs VTEC.

no it's a civic w/ itr swap. after researching online we discovered he is burning oil somewhere and the lack of oil pressure was the cause. fixed for now by added some oil. vtec working beautifully. thanks.

First sign you've reached a point that you need a baffled oil pan is the first time you drop out of VTEC for no apparent reason...in the middle of a corner.
