If the car is running fine and not throwing any codes, I wouldn't worry about it yet.

Sometimes my B18C1 makes some weird whiney noises at night above 3K rpms. I've been noticing it for about the last year, and there hasn't been any problems to date...

same whine over here. It sounds like a replica vtec noise almost. When i first got the car, and was test driving it, i thought that the previous owner may have had a vtec controller or such, but then i hit the true vtec and knew that my other guess was wrong. but hey, everything is running fine. shouldn't worry about it.

you hit true vtec? is there a fake one? i'd assume you are talking about when you hit 5800 rpm and the secondaries open up. "true" vtec kicks in at 4400.

i meant that i had a wine from likle 3k rpm and up, and i when i first got the car, i thought that the whine was the vtec. But when you rev it higher you can hear the vtec and the secondaries hit. So i menat that the whining sound i kept hearing at 3k rpm was not the vtec.
