Assuming you have the power to hit the honda published 8500rpm fuel cut in 5th gear on a stock transmission with stock 195-55-15 tires, 159mph.

Shut down?
It'll go until it bounces off the rev-limiter in 5th.
My speedo only goes to 150 and revs to 9k, so I'm guessing it won't go past 160 mph before i hit 9k in 5th.
There is no speed govener.

Hard to give a definitive answer.

There are lots of people who have hit the limiter in fifth with even completely stock ITR.

We know what the tach's error is at the top end, but we can't be sure of the actual top speed just based on that.

At those speeds, air resistance plays a part in how fast the car's actually going.

I am going to guess a little less than the theoretical maximum.

This assumes that you have space to do it, too. At very high speeds in fifth gear and an OEM USDM axle, you don't increase speed very quickly past about 140.

I was playing around with a friend in his race M-3 and when i shifted to 5th i looked down and saw a 125 and was supprised that the usdm R's did not have a ground speed limiter or that i had not found it yet.

I have to disagree there George. Well maybe I just don't understand what you are trying to stay. A car is going xxxmph, regardless of the friction caused by the air it's moving. Given equal torque/power, gearing, tire diameter a more aerodynamic car will accelerate faster and more easily (ie, with less force being produced) maintain a given speed.

From what I read it sounds like you are saying a car going (calc by gearing) 140mph isn't really going 140mph...

Rene: As I said in my post, 159mph is the top speed of a stock geared/tire ITR if your car has the power to get there. There is no speed limiter. The ITR is gear or drag limited (gear if your car has enough torque to overcome the drag).

Well, let's just say "drag limited" and we can agree.

George: We could, but then for those stock ITRs that can hit the gear limited speed we'd be sorta incorrect no?

Were is there a legal place to top out a Type R.
I think team-integra has a gear ratio calculator that will tell you your top speed when u enter your tire size.
My car with 205/55/15 falkens will supposedly do 155.

OK, what would you like to call it?

Don't you doubt that a USDM axle at the limiter is at 160?
