Default Just purchased an Integra

Hello all, I just purchased a 95' Special Edition with 76,000 miles in mint condition with absolutely no mechanical flaws at all, except for the antenna not going down when the engine is shut off! I figured I would join a forum to start learning more about my new car.

Anyways, I paid $6000 for it. Not too bad right? Perfect condition, garage kept, older guy owned, totally stock. I feel as though I got my moneys worth anyways.

About that antenna not going down, the shaft of the antenna is slightly bent.. would that be keeping the motor from being able to pull the thing down? I can definately hear the motor doing its thing when the car is started and when I stop it.

Welcome to HAN. Some people might tell you that you paid too much for the car. But if its the car you want then thats alright. But it seems like a pretty good deal. And about the antenna thing, the bent antenna could cause it to not operate well, you could also try to clean and oil the antenna.

Here is an article on how to do that.

I really wouldn't understand if they did. KBB listed it as about ~$5600-$5700. My bank that uses KBB to appraise and give out 100% of the KBB appraisal as the loan determined it being worth $6800. So $6000 is about a happy medium, and it's in such good shape and has a clean report and the guy has every oil change record on file. I'm happy..

Thanks for the link, I will look into it.

You may need a new mast...My accord was doing this and i had it replaced..for free cuz the dealership fed my car up so they replaced that and some other stuff for free..

But anyways that what fixed mine, if the lube doesnt work buy a new mast...

Congrats on the new car, might as well get started takin care of it by the usual tune up, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, etc etc...At least replace whats needed, you'll be happy you did the preventative stuff later on down the road

Never oil the antenna. It says so in the manual. You probably don't have it but you don't oil it because they made the antenna to such tight tolerances that anything in between would make it worse. Just try to bend it as straight as you can and see what happens. Most likely one of the plastic teeth inside the antenna is snapped off though. Happens a lot, you'd need a new mast to replace it. Ebay sells them for $10. No idea if it works though.
