Default vtec + ls tranny?

has anybody here used or known somebody with an LS tranny with a vtec engine? starting to weigh my options, i spent some time looking into final drives and gear ratios so i know i lose some on my acceleration but for my needs, i dont think it will be a big deal... i was talking to my friend who is a tech at the local acura dealership and he said it might be cheaper/easier for me to buy a quaiffe LSD and get my tranny cleaned up a little bit than it is to hassle myself with trying to find an LSD tranny at a good price in good shape.

thoughts?

VTEC engines with an LS tranny suck ass naturally aspirated. It'll be better than an LS non-vtec, but it wont be anywhere near as cool as VTEC tranny.

Its only recommended for forced induction applications where wheelspin and turbo lag/spool come into the picture.

I hear VTEC trannys are made to stay in VTEC when shifting gears. VTEC trannys also rev higher than an LS tranny.

You won't be happy with an LS tranny. Go GSR, ITR, or SI.

My friend just did a motor swap in his 94 LS. Got a JDM B16A and mated it to his LS tranny. The car is still quick and the motor's vtec point is about 5200 I think, when shifted at 8k it doesnt drop out of vtec on the next shift. He chose to do this pretty much for cash reasons. With a vtec tranny it would obviously get off the line a little faster but right now it's not by anymeans slow. It's 170hp on a ls tranny. If a LS integra is given an extra 30 hp it would still go pretty good.

you got horsepower and torque mixed up. A car can have a million horsepower and 1 ftlb of torque and you would be able to crawl faster then it until it finally got going. The more torque a car has, the faster it is during acceleration. The more horsepower a car has, the higher speeds it can go. Back to the tranny deal, you may want to buy a tranny for now that will allow you to drive the car and later get a shorter ratio tranny. Just a suggestion.
