if it just blinks and then goes off, that is just telling you that it is time to change your oil. There is a button under the steering column that if you hold it down while turning on the car, it will reset the light.
exactly what kfar09 said but if you reset it press and hold the button in, turn on the ignition and count to 10 the light should go out if it doesn't repeat the steps intil it does hope this helps
ya i had it turned off before / unpugged but then i reset it...so if it blinks 10 times then its just the oil ? i was under the impression that different blink sequences like say, it blinks 6 times then its a certain problem and if it blinks say 3 times its another probloem...
thanks!

The 'check-engine' light blinks out a code when you connect a jumper across a service connector. That comes from the ECU actually measuring some kind of problem.
The 'maintenance required' light is just connected to an odometer. It's not only oil, but your entire maintenance schedule is based on 7500 mile intervals. It starts blinking a few hundred miles early to warn you. It'll come on solid 7500 miles after it was last reset.
