Default Used Car: Integra Clutch Noise

I just bought a used 95 Integra SE with 135k miles on it. I just noticed this whistling noise and I think it is coming from the clutch. When the clutch is all the way out, it makes a high pitched whistling or chirping. But when I push it in, even just a little, the noise goes away. Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

In addition, my clutch seems to engage very close to the floor. I dont know if that it how all Integras are, but I am used to my Honda Civic where you have to let out the clutch almost all the way for it to engage. Is this a problem?

Also, when I start in first gear my car always chokes violently and the whole front of the car shakes. No matter how slow I let the clutch out or hom much gas I give it, it always seems to shake a lot before it gets going. Is this just bad driving or is this an issue?

Thanks so much. I am new to this forum and appreciate any help I can get.

-Darren

clutch chatter...but with the close-floor engagement i'm thinking someone put a 4-puc clutch disc on there. its very aggressive and will make lots of noise and vibrations.

How do I alleviate clutch chatter? How much will it cost?

well if it is because of the disc, you can't do anything about it. that's just how it is. if its a stock clutch (which i doubt) you will have to replace it.

Clutch chatter could be because of bad driving but it also could be because of a work clutch disk, warped pressure plate, or warped flywheel....

All of these things could have been caused by the driver before you driving bad and causing everything to overheat and warp.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I think the car has been raced. Its got DC headers and an AEM cold air intake, and used to have a full exhaust system. Its lowered also. Oh well, I paid $3900 for it (clean title), what do you expect. Its hard to find Integras that cheap around my area. So how much do you think it will cost me to take care of the clutch problem?

whistling noise is the throw out bearing, chatter could be warped flywheel pressure plate

just get a new clutch, should come w/ bearing and either resurface flywheel
or replace

Yeah i think all clutch kits come with a new throwout bearing, and allmost all shops should include a flywheel resurface in with the new clutch if you get it replaced, so that would take care of all the potential probelms, it is quite expensive though, call around and see what people charge...or do it yourself
