Default Spark Plugs and Wires

Here's a question I've always had. Do spark plugs and wires really add hp? I was looking at gettin some for my 2000 teg, would it be worth it and what are some advantages from them, or any disadvantages? Any help would be great thanks. Oh and last thing, what are some good brands for either or?

I wouldnt say they add HP as much as they restore lost HP from worn plugs and wires.

I would recommend NGK copper plugs and NGK, MSD, or OEM wires with a preference towards NGK.

no it's true the black wires autozone don't have as much horsepower, it's a proven fact. however the orange wires seem to hold twice the horsepower as OEM. thaat plus the bosch 4 tipped platinum plugs and you just gained about 50 hp at the wheels. also if you were to take a common household hair dryer and duct tape that bad boy to your intake and run it into a a/c d/c converter under the hood, you could run it on full mode in the cold position, it's another 50 hp. Yup, my civic is running two hair dryers with water injection. It's badass.

Unless your plugs or wires are no longer in good condition, the stock ones are just fine.
