Default resonater?

i am getting some custom piping for my exhaust. i am doing 2.25 from the cat back, and getting some kind of muffler (Greddy or Comptech or along those lines). anyway the guy who is bending the piping and everything for me said that i would need a resonater and that if i didnt have one, the car would make an annoying ringing noise. is there any truth to that? if so, where can i get a resonater?

that is very true. exhausts without a resonator tend to make rattling sounds in higher RPMs and just sound disgusting. Dynomax makes universal resonators.

Your car will be very loud and perhaps "buzzy" without a resonator. You can use a 4" round Magnaflow muffler as a resonator. I'm currently using an 18" version along with custom piping. Check out www.magnaflow.com for information and part #s ... and then order from http://www.fulllineexhaust.com/index.html

I don't have a full cat-back exhaust, but I have an APEX'i N1 Muffler and NO resonator, I just had the guy weld a straight pipe in it's place...removing the resonator doesn't neccessarily make it sound fuzzy or rattle. It depends on the car....but my '00 'Teg doesn't fuzz or rattle. Yes, removing it will make it loud, but you don't lose anything from removing it.

If it's just the muffler or even axle-back, you're still using your factory resonator so it's not buzzy

I removed the resonator and put a straight pipe in it's place. The factory resonator is NOT on my car.

He just said he had the guy remove the resonator didn't he?

Back to the original question. There is a possibility that it will sound bad since you're upping the size in the piping.
