Default Ok ive searched and found thread but i still dont get it...

Maybe i just missed a thread but "if" i had a 94 LS motor for my civic. and its got that old school looking valve cover. and i happened to get a hold of a 96+ cover. How do i make it work so that the 96+ cover is on my 94 B18B.

i searched and the threads i found just confused me. They start talking about pvc valves and hoses...and i dont know what they look like. Actually i think i do, but im not too sure about it. Can someone tell me exactly how i can make everything work and if possible post a pic of what needs to be changed and how? I dunno why but the threads i found just confused me even more and i went looking for answers and found MORE questions

THANK YOU

The swap should be simple. Simply disconnect any hoses attached to the valve cover, remove your spark plug wires, unbolt the valve cover, remove, clean new one, apply new valve cover gasket and spark plug gaskets, might want to use some liquid gasket, install valve cover, tighten nuts to 7.2 lb-ft of torque.

The trick is the PCV system. But a new VC on an older engine should be OK.

You have one breather hose on your old valve cover, going to the air intake duct. The new VC will have fittings for 2 hoses. One for the PCV valve & hose going to the intake manifold, you want to plug that. (Your PCV valve & hose are in an oil separator box on the back of the block.) That leaves the one breather hose to hook up just like your old one.

Once you get the new cover it will be obvious what has to be plugged.

What's wrong with the older cover? :eh:

Nothing is wrong with the old cover. I just dont like how its all blocky. I just like the smooth look of the later VC. I dont think im the only one that feels this way judging from all the threads i found searching for what had to be plugged.

Oh and thanks for the reply guys i get it. I dunno for some reason the other threads just confused me...

Some of those other threads are talking about putting an older valve cover onto a newer engine. You can't do that because you need a PCV valve SOMEWHERE.
