Actually, coming from my District Sales Manager, we had 3847 imported into the US for sale.

I am surprised that he dared to guess the total, and I am at a loss to understand where he got that total!

Even Honda and Acura seem to misunderstand what the totals are, and the issue is obscured by a mixup over whether Canadian and USDM ITR were numbered the same, or not. It looks like sometimes they were, and sometimes they weren't.

You also have an official letter from Acura floating around saying that there were fewer than 400 USDM '97 ITR imported. I believe I have enough information on my own to say that the letter is incorrect, but it's an example of how even Honda-Acura really seem to have lost track.

They were numbered, but it was differently. The model tag on the radiator support was specific to each one. Kinda like a vin but different as to the manufacter of each of the cars.

Written confirmation from Honda/Acura was:

318 in 1997
1023 in 1998.

Karl told me that he could only get verbal confirmation, and it wasn't easy. 2000 was 1350, 2001 was 1156.

Honestly though, take it for what it's worth.

Your what has it?

What he's saying is that is the production number of the vehicle.

The last 6 of the VIN are indeed the chassis #, but the Type R number plate does not correspond in any way, shape or form. The R chassis were built in line with the GSRs and shipped to a different plant, from what I understand.
