My friend just sold his 2000 model S2k b/c he wanted to purchase the new 2004 model which he said Honda was putting a new 2.2L engine and dropping the redline to 8K rpm. But he did also say they were rating it still at 240hp but when people were dynoing them the new S2k's were gettting 280 hp at the crank and 235 at the wheels. There were a few other changes like glass window in the back instead of plastic i belive he said since the 2000 model and new color's and interior. he's always on s2ki.com and i'm gonna find out if this is true about the 280hp. How do these handle basically is my question compared to the Type R. On the track does the s2000 dominate? I've heard the S2k is pretty much high end equipment so it doesn't respond to well to modifications such as exhaust.

I'll still stick with the R even though the new Z06's are coming with 500hp stock :?

280 hp! wow, I don't understand why honda claims 240 then if 280 is more marketable.

one of my friends dads autocrosses his 00 s2k. the car is very hard to control. it easily steps put and he runs hoosiers. as far as the new ones haveing 280 hp i dont believe it they did boost the torque, but i dont think the horsepower was raised. it could of been though..............

I highly highly doubt that car is making 235 to the wheels stock unless its an absolute freak motor. Majority of 04 s2k dynos ive seen put the car around 205-215whp. My father is actually buying one this april, so i can get to beat on it this summer

OK i read the article which is interesting. How do you guys think it would rate with the R in handling and overall speed/power? Also does the S2k respond well to bolt on's like intake headers and exhaust or are they pretty much tweaked from the manufacturer?
