i recently had a JDM type r put into my 94 gs-r. eveything seems to be okay except that the ECU keeps throwing a code 6. i've changed the sensor and it still does it. can anyone tell me how to check the circuit to the sensor? if that means checking the voltage, i've already done that and it checks out fine. what else could be causing this? could air in the coolant lines do it? please help!!!!

You can go to Auto Zone and have them read the code for you. You can also do a paperclip trick to read it yourself, but I'm not sure how to do it or what the light blinks mean.

yep. how do you know if the circuit's bad though....i can't find out how to check it. if it's the same thing as checking the voltage, then it's okay.

Wash the sensor of with warm water and mild dish soap. As far as checking the voltage, you would have to know what voltage is full scale....ie .2v = 88C etc., i will try to find this info for you.

Do you have the type r ecu in your car... because i heard that you need the type r ecu with the engine it came with.... theres only a specific ecu that will work with that type r engine......

yeah it's the p73 ecu. i've got the JDM wiring harness back and i'm trying to clean it up and piece it back together so i can put it back in. there was no code 6 before i put the USDM harness in, so maybe it's something with the harness. that's the only thing i can think of at this point. thanks!
