Read and enjoy. Some of this only applies to the Japanese Type-R's.
HONDA/ACURA INTEGRA Type-R
1995.9 : "type-R" stands for Racing. Honda introduced the Integra type-R which has enhanced driving performance. As for the B18C engine, a new high performance 1.8 liter DOHC VTEC engine boasting a maximum output of 200PS at 8000rpm (111PS/liter) was specifically developed for the Integra type-R.
It was available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Integra type-R's standard equipment includes a Helical LSD, performance rods, hard type suspension, a front lip spoiler, a rear spoiler, alloy wheels, a leather wrapped MOMO steering wheel, RECARO seats and a shift knob made from titanium.
1998.1 : Torque figures are up mildly at low and mid rpm levels, and huge disk brakes and larger tires were used for the improvement in brake performance. Also Type-R has had its operating performance enhanced.
Engine improvements:
Equal-length 4-in-1 style stainless steel exhaust manifold.
Adjusted final gear ratios deliver enhanced power.
Handling improvements:
15-inch front disk brakes and 14-inch rear disk brakes.
215/45ZR16 tires and newly designed 5-hole 16-inch alloy wheels.
Completely retuned suspension for a sportier, firmer driving feel.
Other improvements:
SRS airbag-compatible steering wheel designed by MOMO.
High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights with twice the brightness of halogen lamps.
New wing-type rear bumper design.
1999.7 : The serial number stamp which shows the order of manufacture is started.
1999.12 : Added Integra type-Rx to its line-up of Integra type-R series. The type-Rx was equipped with body colored retractable electric door mirrors, keyless entry unlock system, a digital clock, privacy glass, and aluminum sports pedals.
2001.7 : Honda announced Integra type-R full model change. The new DC5 Integra type-R is powered by a 2.0 liter DOHC i-VTEC engine developed specifically for intake and exhaust efficiency and a maximum power output of 220PS, coupled with a new close-ratio 6 speed manual transmission. Other features are front brakes jointly developed with Brembo, Recaro seats, and a MOMO leather wrapped steering wheel.
