is the K&N RU2820 filter a direct fit for the ice box or does it need any mods?

RU2820 need to have the elbow off the stock filter hacked off so you can connect it to the stock intake arm. There is an E2427 that you can get that is a drop in and by the time you buy a 2820 and a stock filter you will be close ot the same cost.

I did mine well before the drop in existed.

 

wouldn't the RU-2820 fit better because the stock elbow has the rubber gasket to keep hot air outta the box, and the E-2427 doesn't?
