hey. im new to the forums. i dont have a type r yet. but, as soon as i get a chance i am getting mine. i was just introducing myself. i am Alan. i also had a question:

I will be looking for like a '97 or '98 ITR. Authentic imported right hand drive fully loaded. with like under 80k. any guess as to how much ill be spending?

They are relatively cheap in Japan, which is where you would be doing your shopping. Expect to pay a few grand to get it shipped here, and wait a few months for customs, the car will need to be disassembled, as in usually removing the engine and some body parts - so that it can legally be shipped here as "parts", then it will have to be reassembled. I would just buy a USDM ITR and get a JDM front clip, if you really want the JDM look. It would be so much easier to do that, and probably cheaper in the long run.

It really is a crap shoot. Going authentic JDM could be a paperwork, time and money nightmare. But the cars are selling for well under $10k for those year models and usually have very little mileage due to stiff Japanese tax penalties.

On the other hand, you generally pay about $16k-$18k for a USDM Type R and at times can be more difficult to locate a good one than the JDM O_o

Look into it thoroughly and then decide.
