Question on apexi vafc
:?
I have a 98 ITR with Aem CAI and 5Zigen exhaust.
I recently installed an Apexi v-tec air flow converter and was wondering if anyone here has this in their ITR ?
And if so did anyone dyno test their car after Apexi vafc installation?
I would like to know what setup to set the VAFC to without having to go on a dyno.
Thanx I appreciate ur help

Every car is different even if you take two identically modded B18c engines and Dynoed them the results would be different. In ordere for the VAFC to be utilized to it's max you must dyno the car and have it tuned on the Dyno.
Keep it at the Stock settings for the time being. I used to play around with the VTEC switch point on my Civic but a Butt Dyno is no match for the real thing

No one will be able to give you the correct answer so you won't get much of an answer other than go to a dyno. What is the point of adding parts that make power if you can't quantify the amount?
You need at minimum a wideband O2 and best of all a dyno to tune the VAFC. Don't cheap out and just put in settings.

dont even dyno yet...it doesn't make sence to me when people buy a VAFC with nothing but a I/H/E...your might...might gain 3-4whp on that...you need some cams then dyno it and tune it. Whats the point of wasting money tuning a I/E? Once you add more air or fuel you'll need to retune it. The VAFC is a tool to fine tune your car.....once you got everything done then tune it. Thats what I would do.

Eric, I have to strongly disagree. We have seen 44-5 whp on a bone stock type-R with a VAFC. We tuned a 2000 Civic SI with I/h/e and we gained 10 hp from a VAFC. THere is power to be made with fuel tning in the least modified situations.
You will definitely need to retune the car as parts of added but tuning between parts is a good idea unless you have parts on the way.

I can see Erik's Point but again I have to Agree with Trey. Idealy we all should tune our cars with each mod. Ideally we should add one thing and tune and test and then add the next and tune and test, but we all know that is not Practical.
Don't Laugh, but I run 1/10 Scale RC cars as well and a lot of the principals are the same. When I Mod my RC car I make sure that mod is running to peak efficiency, well as best as I can.
The VAFC is a tunning tool more so than a Modification, BUT it should be tuned with your car and Can be done with a STOCK setup as well as a full blown race setup. Bottom line is the VAFC should be tuned in using some sort of device to gage what it is doing i.e. Dyno. This is if you want optimum results from the use of this Unit. If improperly tuned (out of Tune) this could cause severe damage to your engine. I believe there is a warning some where in the manual that states that.
