Test the Horsepower of your Integra's Engine--Dyno Challenge
SYNTEC LAUNCHES NATION’S BIGGEST SEARCH FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE ENGINES
Syntec Dyno Challenge 2003 set for 40 events across the country
They’re sleek, styling and have ultra-powerful engines that rival legendary muscle cars in horsepower. They’re sport compact cars such as Acura Integras, Ford Focuses and Honda Civics, and they often have customized engines that make them truly special. Now Castrol is giving owners of these powerful beauties the chance to find out how their "muscle" measures up at 40 Syntec Dyno Challenge events revving across the country from now through November.
The Syntec Dyno Challenge kicked off at the Fun Ford "Spring Shootout" Event at Orlando Dragway in Orlando, Florida, Mar. 1-2. From Orlando, the Syntec Dyno Challenge will stop at 39 car shows, races and other automotive events, daring drivers to test their engines’ horsepower and torque and earn bragging rights and the chance at a national prize of $1,000 and a years’ supply of Syntec.
At each event, participants will have their cars run on a dynamometer – a 21st-century treadmill-like machine for vehicles, which provides a professional estimation of an engine’s horsepower and torque. Drivers receive a printout of their horsepower and torque results and are automatically entered into a contest to find the best horsepower and torque by class. A leader board will be posted at each event and on the contest’s website at www.SyntecDyno.com, showing the vehicles in each class with the highest overall horsepower. At the conclusion of the 40 events, Syntec will award prizes to the driver in each class with the highest overall horsepower. Dyno Challenge winners will be notified by phone and mail in early December 2003.
"The Syntec Dyno Challenge is a great way for consumers, who spend hours working on their vehicles, to find out how much horsepower their vehicles truly have," said Anna Howgate, director – brand management, Synthetics, Castrol North America. "And while we test sport compact cars, muscle cars, pickups, and vehicles of all kind, the drivers can talk shop with other fans of high-horsepower vehicles. We’re both curious and excited to see whose vehicles will come out on top."
The Dynamometer tests are not usually part of common diagnostic routines, so the Syntec Dyno Challenge is a unique opportunity to determine horsepower at a convenient location. And, Syntec’s Dyno is free with a Castrol Syntec synthetic motor oil change at a participating retailer or a purchase of either a case, one 4-quart bottle, one 5-quart bottle or six one-quart bottles of Castrol Syntec synthetic motor oil.
How The Dyno Challenge Works*:
The seven Syntec Dyno Challenge car classes include, four-cylinder – naturally aspirated, four-cylinder – forced induction, six-cylinder – naturally aspirated, six-cylinder – forced induction, eight-cylinder – naturally aspirated, eight-cylinder – forced induction, and rotary.
Syntec Dyno Challenge participants will be attended to on a first come-first serve basis. When participants arrive at the Dyno Challenge site, they will be required to provide a receipt for their purchase of a case (6 quarts), a four-quart bottle, a five-quart bottle, or a Syntec oil change (obtained no more than two weeks prior to the event). Participants will be asked to complete a waiver and entry form before a Syntec Dyno Challenge team member drives their vehicles onto the dynamometer.
The Syntec Dyno Challenge team will secure the vehicle in the front and back and open the hood. Once the vehicle is warm, the car runs its normal operating range two times to obtain two sets of results.
Throughout the dynamometer test, a fan is used to cool the engine. After the test is complete, the owner will receive a computer-generated report of the Syntec Dyno results, which quantifies the horsepower and torque of the car.
Dyno Challenge attendees also can enter Castrol Syntec’s “Build Your Dream Engine” contest, which challenges people to describe how they would use $5,000 to build their “dream engine” and answer five, short-answer questions that tests their knowledge about domestic or import engines. The contest is open to customers who purchase four quarts or more of Castrol Syntec motor oil from any participating Castrol retailer. Drivers can enter the contest as either a domestic or import entrant by completing the entry form that is available at Dyno events or online at http://dreamengine.castrolusa.com.

Come on, let's show 'em that "Honda Power" lol.
Can the dyno people pick up a pizza while on the way to our houses? Now THAT would rock.
Sounds interesting....[/quote:3ca024746b]

I'll go in June and November when they're back in FL...I snapped a rod last time, so I couldn't make it, but this go around with this setup, I'm hoping to make like 230-240 NA, so hopefully by the end of the contest the numbers won't be too high...
Guess we'll find out...
