My friend has a comptech foam filter, I think it isnt good for the engine. A mechanic said to me that these parts dont clean the air enough. Its true? What about performance??

It is fine as long as you clean it often. Performance is good for 1-2hp.

Well, the reason why people are not wild about foam, as it does flow more CFM than a cotton gauze style(K&N) filter, is that supposedly they start to deteriorate over long periods of time. I honestly think this is just rumor, as I have seen many deteriorated K&N filters, but mine has been on my car for over 2 years, and other than needing a cleening from time to time, still remains in the same condition it was in when I bought it.

I figure if spoon is using them on their N1 circuit cars, then they're good enough for mine.

Later,
Aj
