I hate A/C. I want to remove it from my car, its just weight to me, plus the button can be used for other things????!!!!!.

Has anybody successfully completed this job?

Yeah, it's pretty straight forward, just remove all the A/C components starting with the compressor and condensor, then make your way around, just make sure you don't open any hard lines, other wise, you'll be having some fun with freeon, the compressor and condensor will come off togather as long as you're careful and take your time.
