hey guys. i need a little of your expertise. when i take my car to the track, the people behind me see white smoke come out of my tail pipe. my friend taped it and it looks like it only happens in between my 2nd to 3rd shifts while i'm turned hard.

i can't tell any decrease in power or anything wrong with the motor. i fellow type r owner told me that it's just cause the car is in full load. is this true? your input would be helpful because the dealer can't find anything wrong with the car.

thanx

i don't think it's full load or anything...take it to another dealer for a second opinion. dealer's don't know as much as they lead you on to think... :?

Virtually every ITR with some sort of exhaust component will puff out a little black smoke when your ripping through the gears, even most stok ones, becuase ITR's run so rich from the factory. It's pretty normal, and not something to worry about. If you really think its a problem, you can go to a dealership, but they're basically gonna tell you the same thing.

White smoke isn't exactly a good thing...

Here:
White smoke is water/antifreeze, usually from a blown headgasket. Also look for excess bubbling in your radiator. Milky colors in your antifreeze or oil are also a sign.

Black smoke is from oil

Head gaskets run any where from like $40 to $140, and I wouldn't suggest to do it your self if it's something you've never done, especially as it's tough to un-screw up what you've screwed up when it comes to valve train and head work, for example if you don't pull the cams, and replace them at TDC, you can say good bye to your motor when you go to start it up.

Though, yeah, it would be a great time to put in some parts.
