compression test results 95 se
Hey if any one has the time or inclination,
i got #1-180 #2-170 #3-170 #4-180
Ijust read a post in the library that suggests possible head gasket wear
with those kind of numbers. the cars got 120,000 on it
runs lean, am I alright here or should I perhaps look into a new gasket, I need to adjust my valves soon anyway.
Thank you HAN I know that i know nothing which at least puts me ina position to learn

Hmm... I honestly don't remember the interval for replacing the head gasket. Knowing Honda parts, I'd bet it will hold until at least 150K at a minimum...
I've got Monday morning brain; pardon my ramblng. I'll look up the stock comp numbers and get back to you later today.

thank you

those compression numbers are fine. the 170s may indicate minimal head gasket wear between those cylinders, but definitely nothing to worry about.
driver, if you're referring to the valve cover gasket, that has nothing to do with your issue of running lean. yes, you should replace it every time the valve cover is removed (i.e. when you adjust the valves) but all that gasket does is keep the valve cover sealed.
just to make sure you're clear on this, valve cover gasket does not equal head gasket. your issue of running lean is being caused by something else, i'm almost sure of it. when's the last time you replaced things like the fuel filter, spark plugs, etc.?
I stand corrected. Thanks reno. :goodjob: I was suffering from some serious brain fade at the time.

hey thank you for your replies everyone, I truly do appreciate it.
I have done plugs wires cap rotor fuel filter air filter and assorted sea foaming all recently.
I think:thinking: I am running lean because my plugs are consistently white and alittle yellowed on the insulator whenever I change/check them
which I believe means alittle hot, so hot+lean kind of go hand in hand I assume
but you say the numbers arent bad so this is comforting
My car does feel ok to me but I'm picky maybe too much
sorry for being unclear I should have had too questions there
valve+head gaskets two different things huh I have much to learn
but as far as my symptoms indicate am I running lean?
If not that would be a great relief thank you for listening guys
