Default Car jacked last night... thieves must die

So I wakeup this morning after last night's storm and get to my car neatly covered by about 6" of snow, just like all cars around it. I turn the key and find out the door was unlocked. I dont think much of it, figuring I left it unlocked by mistake, although I never do.

When I get inside... I notice weird metal plates on the seat. Some mother****er who should die tried to hotwire my car. Ripped the steering column apart etc... I call the Boston Police who dont really care and say they'll call back in an hr to file a report. I was running late for work so said f-it.

They ran thru my stuff, center console, trunk, even hood. My car's pretty stock so nothing to take. I took my faceplate w/ me so they didnt take the stereo.... mang, what a day, what do i do now? Will insurance cover my steering column??? This sucks! I've comprehensive (theft & fire)

I wouldn't bother with the insurance. It may not be worth it for you to claim it and possibly have your rates go up. Although, it's up to you. Damn thieves.

At least they didn't get your windshield border pieces. :happysad:

That sucks man!

Something like that shouldn't affect rates at all. It's not his fault. If he was at fault in an accident or was wreckless then his rates might be upped, but not for a break in...

i think it will affect rates... They will conclude you live in a dangerous area . My friends family's got into 2 accidents lately. Both other drivers ignorance. They might get dropped from insurance for living in a high risk area..

the insurance carrier does not care whose fault it is, a claim is a claim. You can expect your rates to go up, it will probably not be worth turning in, depending on your deductible, unless of course your $500 leather jacket and those 20 CDs and $200 cash you had in the glove compartment were stolen Stormy nights are popular times to steal, sound is muffled and who goes for a walk in a blizzard?
