Motor mount inserts
I got a 95 gsr, i am in the process of installing es motor mount inserts. I got the left and right one in, i only have the rear to do. I took it out to see how it felt and it felt like crap. I searched a previous post and found that somebody left out the rear mount and it was better, the only one that i havent put on yet. Is there any combination of the mounts that will be better caust this vibration sucks bad. Maybe if i put the rear and take off one of the sides. Someone please help.
oh. i get it now. best ride, use oem mounts with no insert.
mount inserts are for performance not comfort. i dunno about a different combination to make it more comfortable..but in my opinion, thats kinda like doing something half-assed. :dunno:

The more inserts you use, the more vibration you get.
Given the way the drivetrain is mounted, most of its motion is in a fore/aft direction. The first mount I would add the insert to then, is the front one. Furthest away from the cabin and will help to limit the motion of the engine somewhat.
If you do one side mount you should do both, otherwise the one without the insert will be subjected to a whole buncha torque because the motor rotates around them and limiting the force on one side will transfer it to the other. Adding the side inserts will give you a lot more vibration, as you have noticed.
I would see how you like it with just the front insert.

I used an ES insert for the front mount by the radiator mainly because it was $22 for the insert kit, and that front mont alone was like 60 or something. I tried using the inserts for the side mounts but didnt like the vibration, so I went to OEM for the sides and havent done the rear. The car responds sooooo much better with the 3 new mounts and only has slightly more vibration than stock due to the fact that the front mount is solid instead of gapped like OEM. I remember when I had all busted mounts, when I went from reverse to forward , I could hear the engine jumpin around, didn't like that at all. Maybe I will try some polyurethane filler in a caulkin tube for the rear mount, but as it is, doesn't seem like I need to mess with it. When I build this motor up I will replace the rear mount while the engine is out, much easier then.
Well i took them off, i loved how they did stop the wheel hop. I hated the way the car drove after i put them in though. Lots of vibration. If it was a car that was only driven to race then it would be a great investment. But if its a daily driver with only a few mods and not driven hard all the time i think there a bad idea. Ill probably try to sell them cheap.
