engine code

hey guys. i was just wondering what ways there were to tell if somebody has a genuine type-r engine. does the stamp on the block actually read B18c5 or just B18c????

USDM ITR blocks are stamped B18C5. I believe the JDM ITR blocks are just stamped B18C.

ok thanks.....a guy i know has a jdm type r engine and it only says b18c...the guy he bought it from i would not put it past him to just buy a red valve cover and get a b18c and lie to the guy...i was just wondering....thanks.

The ITR also has a different block brace than the GSR block.. at least in the US, dunno about the JDM motors...
