Ok, so I was on the highway tonight pushing the needle to 60. When I got to 60mph, I should have been in 4th gear (I have an auto). I was practically gassing the car to go faster, but my car sounded like it was struggling to get higher (high whirling noise). It was barely accellerrating (1-2mph per second more) and it was stuck at 3000rpm and didn't climb higher as I tried to accellerate more. From 1-3 gear, I have no problem reaching as high as 8000rpm. Any ideas on what can be wrong?

 

might not be shifting into gear? i dont know much about auto trannies but maybe that gear is kicked? :dunno:

It should have been in fourth, but what gear was it in? If it is starting to go up a hill in high gear would be likely place to notice it

 

yeah, i know it was in 4th gear... it doesn't go past 3000 rpm after 60mph when I floor it and accellerates at a crawl... any ideas?

 

tranny might be dead ,4th gear is just out....Might need a new one

 

do a manual swap

 

Argh... please don't tell me you think my tranny is shot. I just bought this car a month ago. Can it just be something in there loose or something...

 

could be :dunno: take it to an honest tranny swap.... if you need a new tranny, my friend is about to do a manual swap on his g2, if the tranny is compatible (should be) he will probably sell it to you cheap.

 

no its going in to 4th gear cuz even if it was stuck in 3rd it would still reach 8000 rpm but not much mph.its something else.
