Default Ticking Injectors!

I heard a ticking/tapping noise after a regular oil/filter change,so off came the the legendary red cam cover and i thought a tweak on the old valve clearances would sort it.

That wasnt the case, so after a little more ear straining and a fiddle with a stethoscope i realised that the noise was coming from the fuel injectors!

My ITR has covered 100,000 miles,i just wounder if any one else has had there TypeR injectors reconditioned or replaced?

Would it be worth sorcing some uprated ones if they need replacing? Does anyone reccomend any?

The ITR fuel injectors are LOUD. They are like that new, old, etc. If they are louder than they used to be, I'd say that may be a sign that they are on their last leg.

You may want to get them flow tested/cleaned.
Or just get some new stock replacement ones.

I am by no means an expect on this... does anyone else have any input or experience with this?

B18C injectors are very loud...sometimes they seem even louder than normal. Mine do...at 132k miles...and they did at 80k as well. Get some Regane in your next tank, and see how they do then. But just remember, they are loud.

Upgrading? Can't hurt...but that's only needed if you plan on doing some big engine work. Suggestions: that's a bit different. I know some people use DSM injectors, others use Prelude, and some find some good aftermarket ones.

For now, you should be fine. Are you having a colored exhaust? Is the header/intake stock or not? If you have a header on there, they will sound louder due to resonance.

I know you're buying a Hondata. Whether you need to replace the injectors could very well depend on what else you have in mind for the car.

At 100,000 miles, please be prepared for the possibility that you're opening up a Pandora's box of difficulties if you go very far at all. Are you prepared for one thing to lead to another, with perhaps a major refit in the near future?
